Servier Becomes Latest Company to License Owkin’s K Pro AI Scientist

AstraZeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Sanofi are some of the other companies that have struck agreements with Owkin.

Editor’s Take: Specialized biological agentic AI can help drive smarter, faster decision-making across the pharmaceutical value chain.

Owkin announced an agreement with Servier to license K Pro, Owkin’s AI scientist, along with multimodal patient data. The intent is to advance Servier’s oncology research.

The agreement tasks Owkin with making data from its Mosaic network accessible to Servier’s research teams, for further analysis.

Servier Builds on Previous Owkin Relationship

AstraZeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Sanofi are some of the other companies to recently strike similar deals with Owkin. Prior to those partnerships, Owkin partnered with Amgen in 2021 on a three-year pact leveraging artificial intelligence models.

In 2023, Owkin and Servier entered into a previous partnership centering on patient subgroup identification, also in oncology.

Owkin, an agentic AI company, describes K Pro as the first automated AI scientist for revolutionizing drug discovery and development. Uniting multimodal patient data and specialized biological agentic AI, Owkin says, drives smarter, faster decision-making across the pharmaceutical value chain.

How K Pro AI Scientist Works

K Pro uses specialized biological tools that leverage a decade of knowledge of pharmaceutical partnerships and state-of-the-art research. The platform optimizes molecules, discovers targets, identifies biomarkers, optimizes subgroups, and designs clinical trials. It is trained and validated on real-world patient data.

“Our AI scientist is changing the way biopharma works,” Owkin Co-Founder and CEO Thomas Clozel, MD, said. “By pairing K Pro with Owkin’s multimodal patient data, Servier’s scientists can investigate the biology of hard-to-treat cancers. [They can] reach answers that manual analysis alone cannot deliver.”

“We are constantly looking for new ways to deepen understanding,” Claude Bertrand, Servier Executive Vice President, Research & Development, said. “High-quality data and AI-driven analysis in one place helps our teams generate and test hypotheses with greater speed and confidence.”
